The cottage, finally like at home!
It's been almost a month now, we moved to the little cottage on July 19th(see previous post where explains some more about the sudden move and shows some shots from the living room of the Main House, where we lived until moving to the little cottage besides it).
We worked fixing this cottage for two months, you probably already saw the post of it before the work we've done and continue doing. It had no kitchen, at least not what we understand as a kitchen, the owners agreed that the cottage needed some work for us to be living comfortably in it so the race begun!
Thy finally had a confirmation of a reservation to rent the full (main) house on July 19th, three weeks prior to the arrival of guests, so there we were, planning the sudden move!! we did well, and we had wonderful subs helping out, due to the helpwe needed with plumbing and electrical work. Robert had an excellent helper, Julio, who already worked with the owners taking care of all the yard-cars-exterior chores before our arrival; he is a handy man that will do or try anything you encourage him to do, and he will do it pretty well, from masonry to carpentry, paint, etc., etc.
So, we moved with the minimum needed, but minimum in it at least! For those of you using FBook, I'm sure you followed the progress with pictures posted there.
We continue to work, Julio is not assigned to the job anymore, as planned, due to budget allowances, so it is Robert working alone on the "job side" and myself opening boxes and making the house look like a home, assisting Robert as a helper, cleaning, cooking, doing the city chores, etc.
We still have to complete cabinet work (a pantry by the fridge, cabinet doors and drawer's faces are in the works), complete trim work in kitchen and opening to it, we will paint and make the former kitchenette a nicer spot for a little office and complete exterior work finishing one wall and the final trim around the roof edges.
As per work oportunities, we ahve nothing yet, a few touches that may become something but very weak so far. Starting this coming week we will start researching the Real Estate market looking to buy a piece of property with a house to fix an sell to make a difference and create some sort of income while we also use it as a home to live; we will also look for opportunities to buy a pice of and to build our own home. whatever seems better. we feel stronger at buying to fix and resell, so we can use it as a showcase to others and may be get work besides that. Will see. we have a couple of shots for possible work for third parties but both very weak yet. we have a contract to stay in this little cottage until January and don't foresee staying longer, the owners have a too crazy (borderline with sick) way of life and we do not want to be dragged in it... After a long very stressful time we came to a point where we both feel that we are were we wanted to be and we knew it was going to be difficult, so we better enjoy the easy life without work pressure and the beautiful place we live in, and we started feeling better! Hopefully the search will bring exciting news and prjects for us to continue learning about our new life in Bariloche, getting closer to a busy life making the money we will soon need to pay our bills!
And last but no least, my health seems to be improving! Very slowly but finally improving, with sme bad days but many good days too, that I missed for over eight months, when I have the first diverticulitis episode. Keep your fingers crossed for a soon to be full recovery!
Let's show you our home:
