The little house, our future home

A promise is a promise. Here are the shots showing what we found was going to be our home for the coming months. We now have a Contract (bailment??) signed with the owners where both agreed that we have the right to live in the little house for a minimum of  9 months  without paying rent.
We already started an addition to move the tiny, poor, in bad shape kitchen from the best spot in the house with gorgeous views to the bay (see the view from the existing kitchen window) to a corner of the house. Needless to describe what you see on this shots. Unfortunately there is no room for a guest room, there is a 'passing trough' room, from living room to the corridor to the bedroom, where we will set our office that can receive a queen bed when visitors come, everything will be tight when this bed is added but it fits and you, our welcome guest wi be always welcome in our little home!!

This are the entry views from the main gate, and the gate! House and gate are very close.

Lisa, get ready! we know we will be there at least until February! You may even get a job at the Lodge!

These next pictures show the Main Living-Dining area with the existing tiny kitchen

Nice view, uh?

Following shots show whats down the stairs, passing through rom or future office that might, I mean might, not surely, receive a deck atop for a guest bedroom (that is if Martin agrees to supply the lumber and Robert agrees to build it). After you'll see the corridor to bedroom, bath and laundry room, ending at garage that you access from laundry room.

And lastly, a few shots of the addition, kitchen o be near the entry door...

We believe in two months the new kitchen will be in good shape to be used, may be not completely finished but in moving condition. We are also thinking of moving into the little house ASAP... our life is in all those boxes, it is very uncomfortable to be moving boxes back and forth, opening and closing them every time we need a little something! Martin will replace the stove, we brought everything else, so we should be able to get settled soon!

We miss having our own space, it has been FOUR months since we left our home in Savannah!

We will keep posting the progress of our new place, already Juanita's and Rosie's place.
They are not allowed in the Main House, of course; we miss spending quiet evening time with them in the living room too!

Almost a month has gone by

Well, we need to apologize for leaving you in the dark and wondering about the course of our lives... It has been over three weeks since we arrived into Bariloche, the adjustment has been hard, justice to be made: we built castles where there were none!
So,
We had a very accident-ed road tip from Buenos Aires to Bariloche. The plan was to overnight in General Roca, Rio Negro at my cousin's -Ricardo- home after a 11 hours drive, the truck had a fuel/pump/engine pressure problem that demanded a stop every few kilometers extending our trip an extra 6 hours, in the dark night on a road with very few other cars and the concern that the truck could quit completely leaving us in the desert with two dogs and tons of luggage...

We finally made it to Ricardo's at 1:00 AM, enjoyed a beautiful belated ASADO with his friends and went to bed knowing that the following day was going to bring more delays to get the truck in good condition to hit the road again, and this time through the mountains! It worked well, Agustin, Ricardo's son, who loves and made engines his life, found a solution that put us back on the road around noon. We were very exited by then, the next five hours were going to be what we were waiting for almost eleven years: be back in Patagonia, near the Andes! And it was beautiful! What a landscape!

Millaqueo Lodge is a beautiful beautiful place, pictures we all saw do make justice to the place and being there gives you the real feel, it is even more beautiful than in the photos.

The new system for the Lodge, from being a vacation's rental home to a 5 suites Lodge, is not designed yet. The owners are new at it and have more dreams and good intentions than real progress achieved. That might not sound fair from Martin's & Brigitte's perspective after two years of hard work and lots of money invested, but there is a lot more to be done to reach what they see as a high end Lodge that will be published -really! it will be- as one of the most beautiful luxurious homes in the world, among many others.
M&B also need to work hard on their relationship, a couple of days after our arrival, and having to shared the daily life with them in the Main House due to the poor state of the Guest House, they had a big  relationship crisis, big one! We had to listen to their individual venting againts the other one and give advice to these two people we didn't know, who live a very disorganized life, talk a lot about the good ways but live the messy ones, etc, etc, etc! Crazy! It was a crazy landing, the first two weeks Robert and I were completely lost wondering about the near future, it did not seem like the Paradise we advertised, not a place where to stay, it felt more like being residents in a mad house -details to be avoided here due  the public exposure-.
The Guest House, our future home, was also bad news. It is not ready for us to move in, even after Martin, the owner, promised us it was. To make the long story short, we already started an addition to nest a small kitchen once the existing one is tiny and in a very bad shape of maintenance (and let's don't get in to the cleanliness issue...). But I will leave the description  and pictures of the little house for next post, promising it will be uploaded this week!
Another chapter is the progress of my belly issues, right now I am in Buenos Aires running test to make sure what seemed a diverticulitis is only that. On Thursday I will have results of the screenings I did today and will have some news to share with you. Apparently everything is fine although it is taking me a very long time to recover, stress might be the visitor that does not show in any tests and it is causing most of the belly discomfort! I promise to be good and to try to relax even though our life is messy and does not have a clear horizon yet!
Robert stayed in Millaqueo with the dogs and our loving friends the Wolfs, I came to BA late on Sunday and will be back with obert on Friday morning.
